The main downsides are the price (significantly more expensive than its competitors) and are more aimed at experienced users.

Membervault Is used to host your courses, freebies and membership site content all in one place. It can showcase all your products easily and is fast and intuitive to set up.
Membervault is also seen as a more personal and at scale option and therefore good for first time course providers as it can boost your courses sales without the constant needs for effort-intensive launches.

- Almost an all-in-one system with the exception of email service
- Email marketing: Active Campaign, Mailchimp, Convert Kit

- Different types of multimedia can be used for course content. However, video you will have to host elsewhere.

Thinkfic has really good course creation features but few features to market so course so relies more heavily on integrations.

With this plugin you can easily create online courses, sell digital downloads,
build members-only forums and much more.
